Today, John Bel for Louisiana released its fourth in a series of digital ads, “Better Off: Medicaid Expansion.”
The ad, which will run across digital platforms in :30 and :15 second variations, highlights Gov. John Bel Edwards’ commitment to ensuring more Louisianans have access to quality healthcare.
On Gov. Edwards’ first day in office, he expanded Medicaid, allowing thousands of Louisiana’s working families to access preventative care and treatment. Today, more than 465,000 Louisianans have enrolled in Medicaid Expansion, our uninsured rate has been cut in half, and employment in the healthcare sector is at a record high.
“Gov. Edwards has often said that expanding Medicaid was the easiest big decision he’s made as governor. It’s saving our state money, keeping our rural hospitals open and creating thousands of jobs. But most importantly, it’s saving lives. Tens of thousands of Louisianans have been screened for cancer and diabetes, and more Louisianans are receiving mental health and substance abuse treatment through Medicaid than ever before,” said John Bel for Louisiana Campaign Manager Richard Carbo.

“Louisiana is much better off today than we were three years ago, when we had one of the highest uninsured rates in the nation. That is why my first act as governor was to sign the Medicaid Expansion, saving the state hundreds of millions of dollars, creating over 19,000 jobs, and cutting our uninsured rate in half. Most importantly, thousands of working Louisianans have access to life-changing healthcare. We are moving in the right direction, but we’ve still got work to do.”
